Pops' Travel Guide, Thanks American Express
I would like to thank American Express for turning a long and otherwise dismal day into an enjoyable experience. My son and I were flying from Sacramento to San Jose, Costa Rica and had an eight hour layover in Mexico City. We went into the city for lunch but after that were back in the airport wondering what we would do with about 3 hours of downtime.
That's when we found out that the airport had an American Express Centurion Club. American Express Centurion Clubs are open to American Express card members. Gold members and above have free access to the lounge which offers snacks and drinks for free. If you are hungry they have a menu of food items that you can order for a small charge. WIFI is free and there are private nooks where you can be off by yourself and relax. We had such a great experience that on the way back we also had an 8 hour layover and spent the entire time in the lounge,
It looks like they are just ramping these up. From my research I have found the one in Mexico City, and also in Argentina, Brazil and India. Also it looks like there are two in the US, Las Vegas and Dallas. I would check before you fly to see if they have added more. These are run by American Express and not a third party program. Look for American Express Centurion Clubs.
This was an unexpected pleasure and I hope they keep adding more lounges.
